Heartland Ham Still Collecting Presents For Truman Kids

All of the children's Christmas presents were lost in the fire at the Truman Smith Children's Center. But one local radio personality decided to make sure the kids still have a merry Christmas.

Since the fire, he's been asking East Texans to bring toys and clothes to Heartland Ham stores in Tyler and Longview.

Yesterday, they collected four van loads of gifts, and today people dropped off even more. Store owners say every child deserves to enjoy the magic of Christmas and they are happy to give.

"I know myself even as an adult I still like Christmas. I'm excited about what's going to be under the tree and I just couldn't imagine not having anything there, and certainly anything that we can do to help out, but anything that can be done to help these kids out they really need a special Christmas and that's what we're trying to do," says Scott Roycroft, owner of Heartland Ham.

You can drop your gifts off at either of the Heartland Ham store locations. One is in Tyler at 3400 South Broadway Street, and in Longview at 1448 McCann Road. They'll be accepting donations till Christmas eve.
