Nancy Boyd began filling up the three acres surrounding her home at with Christmas scenes twenty years ago. She now has over a million lights, displaying everything from nativity scenes, to American flags and even helicopters.
Boyd's electric bill runs over $2,000 each holiday season. In spite of this, she refuses to take any donations, insisting that Nancy's Wonderland Of Lights is a gift to her community.
Longtime friend John Warren helps Boyd put up the lights and scenes each year. He also plays the role of Santa Claus for visitors who come from all over East Texas and the Metroplex as well.
Nancy's Wonderland Of Lights is located at Lake Brenda. Turn into the second entrance to Lake Brenda, just past Mineola's Walmart, and from that point follow the arrows. The park will be lighted through new year's eve.
