Kilgore Celebrates State Football Title

The party is still going on in the city of Kilgore after the Bulldogs brought back that city's first ever high school football championship Saturday night. Still riding high after the Bulldogs' double overtime win over Dallas Lincoln, the atmosphere in Kilgore can only be described as euphoric bedlam.

"We were unable to go so we listened on the radio, and like to tore the house down and run everybody out of the neighborhood, screaming and hollering," said 1985 Kilgore alumni Jimmy Kinsey.

Hundreds turned out at the high school campus to welcome the team home Saturday night, a welcome that became thunderous as the championship trophy came off the bus.

"I've got 2 more boys coming up so they're going to say my brother is on the championship team, first ever in Kilgore," said Kim Daniels, whose son plays tight end on the team.

It was a moment that many students, athletes and Kilgore residents will not forget.
