Troup Falls Short In Championship Bid

The Troup Tigers came up short in their bid for a State Championship Saturday night.

The Tigers lost to Crawford 28-14 in front of a big crowd at the Birdville Athletic Complex in North Richland Hills.

Trailing throughout the first half the Tigers fought back with an 80-yard touchdown drive on their first possession of the second half.  That tied things up at 14.  That would be the last time Troup would be close as Crawford shutdown the Tigers powerful running game and scored two more touchdowns to get the win.

Team members say even with the loss, they'll keep their heads high.

"We've had an outstanding year, there is nothing to be ashamed of, not many people make it this far, so we still got a lot to look back on," said Senior Quarterback Bo Steele.

"When I look back I'll be real proud of this season. It's been a long time since anybody from Troup has been this far so we're just going to look at it that way and keep on going," said Senior Defensive Back, Jarriel Norman.

Troup finishes the season with 14 wins and 2 losses.
