Chapel Hill senior cheers double duty

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Two a day football practices ended in August, but for Chapel Hill senior Sarah Feder, two a days never stop.

"This has been the hardest year of my entire life," said Feder.

The straight-A student wanted a challenge her senior year. Cheer Friday nights for Chapel Hill, cheer Saturday for TJC.

"Sarah begged us," said Feder's mother Kathy Fergueson. "She wanted to do both. It was something she really had in her heart."

Taking dual-credit classes, the high school senior was eligible. She just had to make the TJC team.

"College cheer is so much different in high school," said Feder. "It's just all about what the coaches want, and I'm glad they chose me to be on the team."

Up at 6:15 in the morning, Feder heads to TJC cheer practice. After practice she heads to Chapel Hill for classes. After school, she's back at Chapel Hill cheer practice. Then heads home for a night of homework.

"I think it's more work than she was expecting it to be," said Fergueson. "Through this she's maintained all eyes and has over a 4.0 GPA.

"It's scary," said Feder. "It's like I'm going to college already but I'm not. I get the best of both worlds."

Double duty leads to long nights and weekends. But Feder doesn't regret cheering on both the Bulldogs and the Apaches.

"I definitely think that I would have regretted it had I chosen to do it," said Feder.  "There was one point I was like I'm not going to do it anymore at TJC and I'm so glad that I did."
