Playground Dedication For St. Louis School

The kids at St. Louis School for Exceptional Children got an early Christmas present today. As a part of their centennial project for their 100th anniversary, the Tyler Rotarty Club has installed a new specialized playground at the school.

To show their appreciation, the children hosted a Christmas party for the club, and gave a program. Principal, Karyn Hacker, says the new playground will give kids who couldn't go to the playground before a whole new perspective on the outdoors.

"Many of our students aren't able to go outside and enjoy regular playground equipment. This one's specially adapted for wheelchairs to go up, and one of the areas is specially shaded place to be out of the sun so they can go and watch the other students play," says Karyn Hacker, Principal of St. Louis School.

The Hibbs Family Foundation of Tyler contributed half the cost of the 3 year playground project.
