Proud Of East Texas: Donnie Lewis

It's a feather in any chef's cap to have one of his gourmet creations featured in the internationally reknown "Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalogue".

Donnie Lewis of Athens has had multiple dishes featured during the past eight years. Lewis's association with the famous upscale chain began in 1996. An NM buyer saw Lewis products at a trade show in New York and asked him to create some gourmet goodies for their catalogue.

That first year, Lewis cooked up chocolate pecan pie and assorted brownies. They were such hits, the store's orders have grown each year. This year, fourteen of Lewis's dishes are featured. Dishes such as pineapple coconut cake, chocolate expresso cake, and creme brulee cheesecake are ordered by nm customers throughout the world.

Lewis is a pharmacist by trade, so he says mixing just comes naturally. But his cooking experience dates back to age fourteen when his mother died and by necessity he learned to cook. Lewis has been able to indulge his creative food energies at his business, "The Pendulum", located in Athens on the downtown square. Customer's palates can be indulged by ordering Donnie Lewis goodies through the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalogue or by picking them up at The Pendulum.
