Motorcycle Riders Raise Money, Toys For Charity

A group of motorcycle riders from across East Texas revved up their engines Sunday, hoping to make Christmas special for some local children.

More than 100 riders gathered in Downtown Tyler to take part in a toy run. It's the 10th year for the ride sponsored by the East Texas Hogg Chapter and Lone Star Harley-Davidson.

The riders collect toys and help raise money for charity, while having a good time.

"I think it's the best cause, obviously we want to give (the kids) Christmas presents and make them think there is someone thinking of them during the holidays and we definitely always do that," said Bennie Latch, owner of Lone Star Harley-Davidson.

They hope to raise $10,000 from the toy run this year. All the money and the toys will go to help the "Youth and Family Enrichment Center" in Smith County.
