Capital Murder Suspect Has Drugs, Counterfeit Cash Charges Added

Drugs, counterfeit cash, an automatic rifle, and capital murder.

All are charges against a Mexican national in jail in Tyler. 37-year-old Edgardo Sanchez is charged with the November 25th killing of 19-year old Alberto Flores in northern Smith County.

Investigators say the victim refused to sell Sanchez a medallion he was wearing around his neck so Sanchez shot Flores in the back.

On a search of the Sanchez home, investigators found counterfeit cash, the drugs Ecstasy and Xanax, and a modified German-made automatic rifle with a homemade silencer.

It's not known if Sanchez is involved with other unsolved crimes in East Texas, but Sheriff J.B. Smith says he is a dangerous man.

Sanchez is in the Smith County Jail on $1 million bond. Whether other arrests are planned isn't being released, so as not to jeopardize the investigation.
