Released by the Texas Department of Transportation:

LUFKIN, TX - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announces plans to close the U.S. 59 southbound cloverleaf at Loop 287 N in Lufkin for base repairs on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. The closure will necessitate detouring traffic for the day.According to TxDOT, in an effort to avoid the morning rush hour traffic, crews will shut down the cloverleaf starting at 9 a.m. to make the repairs. During the closure, all U.S. 59 southbound traffic will be required to use the turnaround located just south of the cloverleaf (near the National Guard Armory) to access the U.S. 59 South Mainlanes. The work is expected to be completed around 4 p.m. with traffic returning to normal traffic flow.Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destinations due to the detour. Slow down and pay attention when traveling through the work zone. Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.
