ETMC’s Growing Together Diabetes Day Camp has earned recertification by the Texoma Section of the American Camp Association.
“We strive each summer to provide a quality program for young people living with diabetes,” said Marie Taylor, RN, diabetes manager and camp director. “We are pleased our efforts have earned this ACA accreditation.”
The ACA Accreditation, which is for three years, means that Growing Together Day Camp, sponsored in part by ETMC Tyler’s Diabetes University, submitted to a thorough review of its operation by the ACA.
“You can be very proud of your accomplishment,” wrote ACA Texoma President Laurie Johnston In her letter congratulating Ms. Taylor. The ACA evaluation includes more than 300 standards. Growing Together Day Camp was evaluated in areas ranging from staff qualifications and training to emergency management.
The American Camp Association collaborates with experts from The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Growing Together Day Camp and ACA form a partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.
Growing Together Day Camp provides a positive, fun-filled event. Participants experience all the fun of summer activities while making lifelong friends and learning valuable lessons on positive diabetes management. Learn more about Growing Together Day Camp at www.etmc.org/diabetes
