Wednesday's Weather: Partly cloudy with a 40 % chance of light showers. Highs in the low 90s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Showers will continue over East Texas today, so don't forget your umbrella before you head out of the door!

Tropical Storm Odile, moving over the northern Gulf of California, heading north into Arizona around 5-10 mph, will bring moisture into East Texas today. This moisture, meeting up with a weak disturbance, will initiate scattered showers over the area today, with a few thundershowers this afternoon. Most of the rain will stay to our west, but the chance (30-40%) for light showers will continue today over East Texas.

We'll stay partly cloudy throughout the day, with winds from the south around 5 mph. After starting the day in the low 70s, we'll warm into the low 90s this afternoon.

Rain chances will linger tomorrow, as a slow moving, weak, cold front, stalled to our north, inches its way back into the area from the northeast. This "back door" front will bring showers and storms (40%) to North East Texas. We'll start Thursday in the low 70s, warming into the upper 80s in the afternoon.

By Friday, a ridge of high pressure will build in from the west, bringing mostly sunny skies through Saturday. Highs will stay in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Our next chance for rain (30%) will arrive Sunday, ahead of an approaching cold front. The front will move through early next week, dropping highs into the mid 80s Monday through Tuesday.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
