Baseball's Union Faces Steroid Issue

The sports steroid scandal is looming large as major league baseball players meet in Phoenix today. The uproar grew, with Senator John McCain saying if the players won't enforce stronger rules on steroid abuse, Congress. will.

Republican Senator from Arizon, John McCain, says, "I'll introduce legislation in January that requires some kind of regimen for testing of major league baseball players and I believe that we can pass it through the Congress of the United States."

Senator McCain says he believes President Bush would sign a bill putting steroid restrictions on baseball but that he prefers the issue to be resolved by the players themselves.

McCain's involvement comes after revelations about what several baseball superstars told a grand jury about their alleged steroid use.
