President Bush Nominates Kerick For Homeland Security Secretary Post

President Bush today has named a second-term Homeland Security Secretary who knows all too well the cost of terrorism.

His choice is Bernard Kerik, who was New York's Police Commissioner, led the New York Police Department through the nine-eleven attacks and their aftermath.

Kerik is currently a Senior Vice-President of Guiliani Partners, a consulting firm founded by the former New York Mayor.

If approved for the post, Kerik will be in charge of one of the largest bureaucracies in the Federal Government, overseeing 22 competing agencies and 180 thousand employees.

Kerik has support on both sides of the aisle up on Capitol Hill and is expected to be approved by the Senate.
