Longview police on Wednesday identified a man arrested in connection with a carjacking.

Thirty-two-year old Grant Henly, of Dallas, was arrested and charged with robbery in connection to a Tuesday carjacking at Louis Morgan Pharmacy. Henly is also wanted for violation of parole in Potter County for possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone.

His attempt to steal the car came to an abrupt end when he ran into a police car. The incident happened at Louis Morgan Drugs in the 1900 block of South High Street in Longview. A woman went into the store and left her car running since she had two passengers sitting in her car.

That's when a man who had been standing in the parking lot got into the driver's seat and drove off. The passengers in the vehicle said they both fought Henly after he jumped in the car. The car slammed into a retaining wall, went around the back of the building and slammed into a police unit.

Henly was arrested as he tried to flee on foot. He remains in Gregg County jail. Bond has not been set.
