WEBSTER, NY (WROC/CNN) – The word “cure” hasn't been in Sheri Delmonte Maloney's vocabulary for the past five years.

Her latest defeat was a recent cancer trail at Roswell Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.

“We found out last week it did not work, so we found a doctor in Germany who has had great results. I have known people who have gone there and right now, Germany is my hope,” Maloney said.

But an experimental treatment in Germany may be the miracle she has waited for. The mother of four was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31 years old.

“After that, a year later, it traveled to my liver, so now I am Stage 4,” Maloney said. “About the past eight months, it has traveled outside [of] my liver into my lymph nodes, [and] in my arms, chest and abdomen.”

The experimental treatment overseas costs $30,000 and is not covered by insurance.

“It's a lot of revolutionary treatment,” Maloney said. “He does a lot of hypothermia, combined with natural remedies. He does a small dose of chemo depending on the patient and your situation.”

When friends and family found out it could potentially save her life, they started an online fundraiser.

So far, more than $17,000 has been raised. Maloney's friend, radio DJ Scott Spezzano is one of those friends.

“Sheri is the smile – she is cool, calm and collected,” Spezzano said. “She never seems like she is having a bad day. It's quite an inspiration.”

On Sept. 13, a fundraiser for Sheri will be held in her community. Maloney's brother says his sister is someone who deserved a fighting chance.

“We've always been close since we were little,” Angelo Delmonte said. “She's the best sister I could ask for, and she's done a lot for me, her kids, she's probably the best mother I know.”

Which is fitting since that's who giver her motivation.

“Two things will be hard,” Maloney said. “Leaving my kids for so long and going and not getting the results I am hoping for, but I am going to think positive and I think this is exactly what I need.”

Maloney leaves for Germany at the end of the month, and she'll be there for about four weeks.
