Texas Medical Rangers

You've probably heard of the Texas Rangers, but how about the Texas Medical Rangers. The first local chapter was sworn in this morning. 15 men and women are swearing to protect and serve country and state. The organization was ordered by Governor Perry in 2003 after President Bush called for more volunteers to help with homeland security. For many of the inductees it was an emotional moment, but especially for Dr. Luis Fernandez who has dreamed of serving our country ever since he immigrated here from Cuba in 1965.

"I feel as a citizen of this country whenever an opportunity arises where you can give back," says Dr. Fernandez.

The Texas Medical Rangers expect to grow to over 500 members within the next 2 years. There are chapters all across the state.
