Hot and dry weather has the JFD worried

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Jonesboro Fire Department is asking for your help.

The hot temperatures have settled in along with very dry weather, and Jonesboro Fire Chief Kevin Miller said grass fires are keeping them busy.

The Fire Department needs Region 8 residents to be careful and pay attention when they burn.

“The temperatures are increasing and things are drying out a lot faster which makes things able to burn a lot faster than what they may realize. Especially if the wind conditions happen to pick up it can add to it and make it a little more hazardous than what people may realize. So, we're asking people to use caution, use some common sense and try to refrain from burning if they don't have to.”

Miller said you are not allowed to burn trash, construction material, or debris.

Only natural vegetation is allowed at this time.
