LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - It was a day full of mud pits, slimy slides and challenging obstacles in Longview on Saturday.

More than 1200 people showed up to Lear Park to take on the first ever "Run Like It's Hot" mud run. The muddy 5k course raised money for the Miracle League, a group that gives East Texans with special needs the chance to play baseball.

All of the money collected will help the group build a new ball field, and organizers are confident it's an experience no one will forget.

"We think it's an excellent way to support our community and support a good cause. There's a lot of sports activity going on around here, and I think it's awesome that the community can build a facility for children who can not get out on the regular fields.

Early estimates show the mud run raised around $90,000 for the miracle league.
