Student Aspiring To Be Nurse Dies In Wreck

Two East Texas teenagers die in separate traffic accidents. Late yesterday afternoon, an 18-year-old was driving along Highway 271 in Upshur County, a few miles north of Gilmer.

Her Lexus hydroplaned on the slick road and hit an oncoming semi-truck.

Kristin Grace White died at the scene. She was a senior at Pittsburg High School and wanted to become a nurse. After school, White worked at an insurance company in Mt. Pleasant.

A teacher who had White in his class the last two years said she was a hard worker and got along well with her classmates.

"When she was coming by in the hall, she would always smile," Reese Moore, White's sophomore and junior English teacher, said. "She was always late. She was always backing up and saying hello while she was backing up and moving on. That's what I remember most about her was her smile and her friendliness."

Funeral services for White are scheduled for Thursday morning at 10 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg.
