EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

The East Texas victim of a frightening arson case is speaking out about the bizarre sequence that led to her losing everything she owned.

On Friday, sheriff's deputies and fire units were called to two burning travel trailers at an RV park on Highway 259 North, near Longview. They later determined arson was the cause of the fires.

Crystal Hart and her husband had sold their home and bought a travel trailer with dreams of traveling the country.

"We just recently got this. We left a three-bedroom family home and purchased this, and had it almost a month now. We were trying to get it put on some land so we could build a new home," Hart says.

With her husband away on work, Crystal says 23-year-old neighbor Chase Dupree focused his attentions on her.

"There was an attack where he had tried to grab me and take me back to his place. I escaped, and from there he started beating on the windows of my trailer. He was lighting something on fire in his truck, which he then moved to his house," Hart says.

Crystal says she looked back and saw Dupree had set fire to his own travel trailer as well as hers. The flames scorched or smoke damaged everything the couple owned.

"Everything. Everything we had. Heirlooms, our clothes, he took everything," she says.

Dupree fought wildly with deputies when they arrived as they attempted to arrest him. During the scuffle, a patrol car was also set on fire.

Investigators say Dupree admitted to being high on the synthetic marijuana 'K-2' and something else.

"Turns out Dupree had a previous episode with K-2, where he was hospitalized in a coma for 5 days," says Gregg County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Kirk Haddix.

For Hart, Dupree's arrest is little consolation.

"I've been upset for the past couple of days, but I got so mad, so angry that somebody could just take that from you and you just don't expect it. We're going to find the best in it, we are," Crystal says.

Chase Dupree is charged with 2 counts of arson, two counts of assaulting a public servant, resisting arrest and public intoxication. He remains in Gregg County Jail on $36,000 bond.

Mrs. Hart and her husband were not insured.
