TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Prosecutors are continuing to make their case against one of the accused P.T. Cole Park shooters. Dennis Bendy is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Briana Young during an alleged gang shootout at the park last year. Thursday, Smith County prosecutors called witness after witness to testify about different aspects of the case. They focused mainly on using cell phone records to prove Bendy was near P.T. Cole Park when the shooting happened.

First, a detective with the Tyler Police Department testified he collected and reviewed Bendy's cell phone records. Detective Gregg Roberts told jurors Bendy made calls to co-defendant Rakheem Goldstein's girlfriend Madeline Wallace that day. Bendy is alleged to have switched cars with Wallace before heading to the park so that rival gang members wouldn't recognize him.

Prosecutors also called a radio frequency engineer to explain how cell towers collect information from mobile phones. That engineer testified as to which cell towers in Tyler picked up Bendy's phone calls that day.

However, it was the testimony of a patrol officer with the Tyler Police Department that got the jury's attention. Officer Jessica Doughten told jurors she took photographs and collected evidence from the crime scene, the victim, and the victim's son.

Prosecutors then showed the jury several articles of clothing, collected that night from Briana Young's son, with his mother's blood on them. Officer Doughten told jurors she had to strip the young boy of his clothing to collect it as evidence because it was soaked in his mother's blood. Bendy's trial is expected to continue into next week.
