Cowboys need a healthy Henry Melton on defense

OXNARD, CA (KLTV) - The Dallas Cowboys will open the preseason with just one Pro Bowl defender on the field.  That one player is returning from major knee surgery.  The Cowboys are taking a chance on former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton, hoping the Texas native can return to top form.

"Henry Melton is a guy that was explosive for Chicago once he established himself as a starter," said head coach Jason Garrett.  "He was a Pro Bowl player until his injury. He's still a young player. If he comes back to the form he played at that's only going to benefit our team."

The former Texas Longhorn is happy to be back in his home state.

"It's surreal playing for the Cowboys," said Melton.  "You never know how things are going to work out in your life, but I'm going to take advantage of this moment."
