Woman leaps from family car on Hwy 31

BROWNSBORO, TX (KLTV) - According to Brownsboro police, a 38-year-old female jumped from a vehicle on Highway 31 after being released to her family from the Behavioral Health Center in Tyler.

Police said she was riding home with her mother when she suddenly opened her door and jumped from the car.

The incident happened across the street from the Brownsboro High School, a spokesperson said.She was transported to a local hospital with injuries to her head and a compound fracture in her leg, according to police.

Police said they are still investigating why the woman jumped from the vehicle.

Earlier we reported that she was struck by another vehicle. Police have now clarified that she was not hit by another vehicle.
