Family, friends, former teammates gather for Robert Newhouse's funeral

PLANO, TX (KLTV) - Family, friends, and former teammates all came together on Friday at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano for Robert Newhouse's funeral.

The Longview native passed away at the age of 64 last week after battling heart problems for the past several years. Newhouse, who played at Galilee High School in Hallsville, was a running back and full back for the Cowboys in the 1970's and early 80's.

Nicknamed 'The House', Newhouse's legacy lives on.

"He touched a lot of peoples lives," Newhouse's daughters Shawntel and Dawnyel said. "We were blessed to have a dad who loved so much and did everything for us.

Former teammate Calvin Hill added, "People always recognized Newhouse, and he always had a kind word for them. He never big timed anybody. That was just the kind of person he was."
