TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas woman is pleading for help in finding the person who fatally hit her son in a hit-and run-accident two weeks ago.

Witnesses say 23-year-old Kenneth Jones, Jr., was hit by one vehicle and then run over by another while he was trying to cross the intersection of Loop 323 and Highway 110 in Tyler.

Joyce Dixon says she's just started to accept that her son, Kenneth, is gone. “I can sometimes hear him calling me. Sometimes I even call my daughter his name and I know her name,” she said. “My child didn't dislike [anybody]. He got along with everybody. He would give you the shirt off his back. He would give you his last dime,” she added.

She says losing him has changed her life.

“It hurts me day and night. Nobody knows, until you lose a child, how it feels. I'm just hurt because I had to bury my child this weekend… I had to look at him for the last time and say goodbye,” she said.

“I feel like I’m not doing enough. I can't sleep at night. It's like him being here and telling me, ‘Mama get up. You've got to get up and fight. If you don't fight for me, nobody will,’” she said. Dixon says she and her family are desperately seeking justice for her son.

She says knowing who killed Kenneth will help give her closure.

“I just have a feeling that somebody knows or they're scared that something is going to happen to them or they're scared to tell someone, but don't be scared. Go and tell someone because if it was your loved one, you'd want somebody to tell you,” said Dixon.

Tyler police are still looking for the vehicle involved in this fatal hit and run. Call them at 903-531-1090 if you have any information.
