7 from 7: Thunder ushering cool front through East Texas

Good Monday afternoon! We hope you are doing well today.

1. We are very much looking forward to the weather changes our weather team is predicting for this week. An unseasonable cool front will continue through our area, and will provide us with less humid and cooler weather by week's end. Make sure to join Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto today at 4, 5 and 6 for the whole forecast.

2. Kelly Gage, 52, of Gun Barrel City has been indicted on a murder charge after an alleged attack on his own wife on Thanksgiving Day 2011. Gage's wife, Patti McHugh Gage, was on life-support for days after the alleged beating, and later died.

3. A Harrison County couple is behind bars Monday after they were arrested for theft, drug possession and other charges. James Robert Arnold and Michael Stephanie Arnold, both of Harrison County, are in jail and charged with stealing more than $250,000 worth of equipment used in oilfield and construction work.

4. An East Texas man was arrested for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14 on June 22. According to the complaint, the victim told her father that 28-year-old Cody Edward Miller forced himself on her.

5. William Rogers, the mayor of the city of Hawkins, was arrested today on an official oppression charge. We have a reporter investigating the story and will bring you more on the news this afternoon.

6.The deputy involved in a fatal shooting Sunday evening in Cass County has been identified, along with the man authorities say he was attempting to serve with felony warrants. According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, 33-year-old Charles Alver Jones, Jr. was shot while a Deputy Johnny Bailey was trying to serve him with warrants out of Ward Co., TX.

7. Here is a term we've never really heard until today: Eco-friendly, green funerals. Apparently, they're growing in popularity. There are several ways to go about this, including using biodegradable urns that allow human ashes to be mixed with potting soil and planted along with the seed of a tree to serve as a memorial.
