Thanksgiving Served At Longview Mission

The spirit of Thanksgiving was shared by volunteers in Longview today as traditional Thanksgiving Dinner came early. Due to more need in the community, the Highway 80 Rescue Mission is serving Thanksgiving meals for the next "two" days. In spite of a low food donation period, the mission delivered 1700 turkey dinners to the needy today, and served an additional 300 meals at the center on highway 80. The mission expects to serve or deliver nearly 5-thousand meals over the Thanksgiving holiday.

"It feels really good to help people that are less fortunate than us , that don't have anything cause we always take stuff for granted, it feels good to help people out," says 13 year old mission volunteer Brittney Harmon.

The Rescue Mission will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow at 6 p-m at the center at 3117 Highway 80, and in Tyler, the Salvation Army will serve Thanksgiving Dinner at the Community Center at 117 North Spring Street from 11:30 to 1 p-m.
