Dr. Marty Crawford is lone finalist for Tyler ISD superintendent
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
School board members say they are working to take Tyler Independent School District to the next level.
The board named Dr. Marty Crawford the lone finalist last night for TISD superintendent.
School board vice president Andy Bergfeld says Crawford stood out during the initial review process because of the way he handled difficult times at West ISD.
He believes Crawford is qualified to tackle issues TISD faces academically and demographically,
He's got a real good handle on some of the issues we face demographically with our economically disadvantaged population. More than anything just his demeanor, he's got some energy to him but he's also got a great love for people,” said Bergfeld.
Bergfeld says Crawford's initial focus will be challenges with the achievement gap, economically disadvantaged students as well as keeping and attracting excelling students to the district.
