Thousands wake up without power in East Texas

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - After storms rolled through East Texas on Wednesday evening, many residents woke up Thursday to find they were still in the dark.

Oncor reported over 6,000 people without power in Smith, Henderson, Anderson, Rusk and Cherokee counties on Thursday morning. By late Thursday afternoon, that number was down to 1,300, split between Jacksonville and Tyler.

According to SWEPCO's website, they have over 2,500 customers without power across Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Franklin, Rusk and Upshur counties on Thursday morning. SWEPCO was able to reduce that number to 892 by Thursday evening.

Wood County Electric Cooperative reported having over 10,000 customers without power on Wednesday evening. Friday morning, a WCEC spokesperson said they currently have 442 customers without power. WCEC reported that all customers had power by Thursday evening.
