All eyes were on Texas head coach Charlie Strong during day two of Big 12 Media Days

DALLAS, TX (KLTV) - The Big 12 Media Days wrapped up in Dallas on Tuesday afternoon and Texas head coach Charlie Strong was the center of attention. Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, and Kansas State's Bill Snyder were each asked about the new head man of the Longhorns.

When asked what advice he would give first year Texas head coach Charlie Strong, Snyder said, "Be who you are, care about people, and I think Charlie cares about people." He added,"I think things will work out fine for him.

"I have to be careful, I cant offer him too much luck," Stoops said. "But I know he will do a great job and he's a great coach"

For the first time in over 15 years, the Big 12 Media Days did not have former Texas coach Mack Brown. And that was a little strange. "I have great admiration for Charlie Strong, but not having Mack is different," Snyder said. Strong added, "I know this, I'm following an icon in coach Brown, 16 seasons at the University of Texas."

Buts its a new era of Longhorn football and Charlie Strong is doing his best to change the culture of a program that hasn't had a 10 win season since 2009. "It's all about putting the 'T' back in Texas," Strong said. "When you talk about putting the 'T" back in Texas you talk about toughness, you talk about trust, you talk about togetherness, and you talk about just becoming a team."

Charlie wants a strong team that will play with pride. He's making his players earn their horns, and the expectations are very clear. "The mission is very simple, it will never change," Strong said. "We want to make sure we graduate our young men. We want to make sure we go compete for championships and we want to make sure they become a better person than when they came into the program."

And so far, the team is following its leader. "We are going to find us a different football team just because their attitude and work ethic and how hard they have worked," Strong said.
