7 from 7: $2 million bond set for ETX mom who admitted killing daughter

Here are some stories for you to check out this afternoon:

1. Sheriff's deputies arrested an Athens mother for capital murder on Monday after the woman told police she killed her 4-year-old daughter, the day the young girl was supposed to go sign up for pre-K. Today Stacie Marie Parsons' bond was set at $2 million.

2. One of the infamous "Texas 7" gang of escapees now has an execution date. State District Judge Rick Magnis has signed an order scheduling 52-year-old condemned inmate Donald Newbury for lethal injection on Feb. 4. Newbury and six other convicts engineered the biggest prison escape in Texas history when they broke out of a South Texas prison in December 2000. Eleven days later, on Christmas Eve, they killed Irving officer Aubrey Hawkins while robbing a sporting goods store in the Dallas suburb.

3. A Longview man says that Joseph Pearson, 34, has been harassing him since April, placing calls to prostitutes and telling them to go to the man's address. At one point, the victims says he was even threatened by one of the visitors sent by Pearson.

4. The Wood County Sheriff's Office said 20-year-old Joshua Michael Tutor, a Yantis resident, was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KLTV, Tutor had sex with a 12-year-old female around March 14 on a Yantis school playground.

5. Longview police are searching for a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery. Police say 25-year-old Vontrequel "Trey" or "Tre" Nickelberry is a suspect in a robbery that occurred on May 10 in the 1000 block of Young Street. Nickelberry is considered to be armed and dangerous. Please call police if you know where this suspect is or have other information about this crime.

6. A tree planted in Los Angeles to honor former Beatle George Harrison has been killed - by beetles. Councilman Tom LaBonge says the pine grew to more than 12 feet tall before succumbing to a bark beetle infestation. A new tree will be planted in the fall.

7.A Native American tribe has canceled an Aug. 4 concert by Ted Nugent at its casino. The Coeur d'Alene Tribe on Monday said that the cancellation of the concert at the casino in the northwest Idaho city of Worley was because of the rocker's "racist and hate-filled remarks." The tribe did not detail which of Nugent's specific views it opposes.
