SACRAMENTO, CA (KOVR/CNN) - A Facebook page created to criticize people about their weight has generated controversy in the 530 area code.
Jessi Lynn Howell said she is still mortified from seeing her picture posted on the page, titled "530 Fatties."
"They post peoples pictures without their permission, like that's hurtful," Howell said.
It shows snapshots of people in public who have no idea their photo is being taken. The posts typically mock the person about their weight.
"I know it's probably someone from around here, and whoever it is they need to stop because that's ridiculous," Howell said.
She said the picture posted of her was taken in October when she was 50 pounds heavier. Lifelong medical problems caused her to struggle with her weight, but medication has helped her slim down.
A phone number listed on the page was disconnected, and messages sent to the creator went unanswered.
Howell said she was not letting what happened get her down and was using it as motivation to achieve her goals.
"I'm not where I want to be, but I'll get there," she said. "Cyber bullying - bullying period - needs to stop. So I'm going to be a voice today for those people that don't have that voice."
