Here are some stories for you to peruse today:

1. A mother has been arrested by Henderson Co. Sheriff deputies on capital murder charges. The woman's four-year-old daughter was found dead today in the trunk of her car.  Taylor Hemness is at the scene and you can see his updates here on KLTV.com

3.The former owner of a chain of hospitals in Texas, including three hospitals in East Texas, is on trial in Tyler for defrauding Medicare.Tariq Mahmood, 61, of Cedar Hill, was indicted in April 2013 and charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud and seven counts of healthcare fraud. Mahmood owned and operated Cozby Germany Hospital in Grand Saline.

4. A college friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was convicted Monday of impeding the investigation into the bombing. Azamat Tazhayakov was charged with obstruction of justice and conspiracy, with prosecutors saying he agreed with a friend's plan to remove Tsarnaev's backpack containing altered fireworks from his dorm room a few days after the 2013 bombing.

5. Gov. Rick Perry says he's deploying as many as 1,000 National Guard troops to the Texas-Mexico border after growing tired of "lip service" from the federal government. Perry said Monday that the National Guard will provide additional support to a state-funded border surge that is costing an additional $1.3 million a week.

6.  In July of 2013, a Smith County Sheriff's Office Deputy, Kimbrick Jones, was arrested for selling drugs out of his patrol car. That investigation lead authorities to uncover a large-scale narcotics ring and other illegal activity.

7. The Israeli Consulate in Houston says an Israeli-American citizen from Texas has been killed during fighting in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement Sunday saying 21-year-old Sgt. Nissim Sean Carmeli was killed in combat in the Gaza Strip.
