Anonymous Benefactor Donates Pianos, Organs

Some local churches get an unexpected gift, just in time for the holidays.

Twenty-three churches in Tyler have received a brand new organ or electric piano from an anonymous donor. The benefactor went through the non-profit organization PATH to arrange deliveries to the churches most in need.

The recipients won't get to thank the anonymous donor personally, but one pastor wants to express his gratitude.

"If I had an opportunity to meet this donor, it would be an incredible thanks for this instrument," Pastor James Hawkins, of Higher Heights Baptist Church, said. "And we're so appreciative for the Lord to touch his heart to provide an instrument that we wouldn't otherwise be in the position to purchase."

Each of the 23 instruments has a retail value of $6,000-12,000, making the total donation worth more than $150,000.
