EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -
After a 4-day stretch of below normal temperatures, look for a big change in our local forecast. A swing from below normal temps to above normal temps are likely this week across the area as the dreaded heat ridge builds in from the west.
Your Monday forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, with hot and humid conditions building into the region. Look for afternoon highs to warm into the low to mid 90s. Tonight, we will see a fair sky return across East Texas with temperatures falling into the low 70s.
Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies and hot. Highs will warm into the mid 90s area wide with a light southerly breeze. Wednesday will feature more of the same. Hot and humid conditions with highs warming into the mid 90s.
A weak front will approach the area from the north on Thursday. Not expecting much in the way of cooler temps across the area, but the front could add to enough lift to create a few pop up showers and storms by Thursday afternoon across some parts of East Texas. Look for highs to be slightly cooler with low to mid 90s possible across the region.
As we wrap up the work week, and enter into the upcoming weekend, look for the true Dog Days of Summer to build back into the region. Look for highs in the upper 90s to near 100 area wide with just a slight chance of a pop-up shower, due to the heat and humidity, otherwise just very hot and humid. Rain chances may increase a bit as we move into the following work week, along with some cooler weather. Until then, look for the true Dog Days of Summer here in East Texas. Copyright 2014 KLTV.
