LINDALE, TX (KLTV) -

A home built by Lindale students sold recently, and today Red Baron Building Company, along with a group of students, returned some of the proceeds from the sale to the Lindale Independent School District.

"This program... has helped where students are getting more excited about designing, architecture, and engineering," Superintendent Stan Surratt said.

The $15,000 donation will go into the district's engineering and architecture programs, driving other projects like this forward.

Superintendent Surratt said Lindale ISD plans to continue its partnership with the Red Baron Building Company, giving a new group of students the chance to design another house.

Nearly two years ago, Ethan Gott and his classmates designed plans for RED Baron Building Company, and this house in Lindale, but seeing the finished product, he says, has been worth the wait.

"It's fun to design something and see it be built and be able to see the tangible object in real life," Gott said.

Homeowner Connie Orvig and her husband moved into the house at the beginning of July and were impressed that local students played a role in their new residence.

"It's so wonderful to think that they would take an interest in something that could possibly lead to a great opportunity," Orvig said.

Now that this home has sold, the hope around Lindale is that students design another one.
