A car struck a pedestrian Sunday morning, resulting in serious injuries.
Tyler police say they responded to a pedestrian traffic accident at the 5400 block of Chandler Highway at 5:45 a.m. Sunday. A paramedic on his way home stopped to administer medical attention. Officers arrived on scene to find a white male had been struck by a white Cadillac Deville.
The vehicle involved was traveling west on Chandler Highway in the inside lane when it struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, Jorge Estrella Patino, 23 of Kilgore, was transported to East Texas Medical Center, suffering serious injuries. Police say he is expected to survive from the the injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured. Police say standardized field sobriety tests were performed on the driver and there were no signs of the driver being intoxicated. There were no citations issued and the driver wasn’t found to be at fault for the accident.
