GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A trial date has been set for a Kilgore man accused of killing a Hallsville teen.

The murder trial of Coby Hudgins is set for Oct. 27 in the 124th District Court, Judge Alfonso Charles said Friday.

Hudgins is accused in the Oct. 5 shooting death of 17-year-old Kayla Williams of Hallsville. The shooting happened after 9 p.m. at a residence in the 3000 block of Mustang Road in Kilgore, according to police reports.

Police said Hudgins left the residence after the shooting, before police arrived. Records show Hudgins was later involved in a vehicle crash on Farm to Market 2087. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated by DPS officers.

Hudgins was released on bond Oct. 11, and was indicted on murder charges in April.
