EAST TEXAS (KLTV)
A very nice weekend is in store for East Texas, however the heat could be an issue as high temperatures will near close to the upper 90s by the end of the weekend. Heat index values, the "feels like" temperature once you factor in the humidity, could be in the triple digits. Please make sure you are staying hydrated if outdoors!
This nice weather is thanks to an upper level ridge of high pressure that is moving into East Texas. We can expect mostly sunny skies throughout the weekend with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and a southwest wind 5-10 mph.
If you're looking for a break from the heat, we may get that as we look into next week. By Tuesday, more clouds move into the area and we'll have about a 20% chance of seeing an afternoon shower or thundershower. This is due to an approaching cold front from the north. High pressure will build behind the cold front, pushing the front through East Texas, and we could be seeing some upper 80s across the area for Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances will increase those days as well, at 30% and 40%, respectively. Winds will finally shift to the northeast after the front passes, giving us a slight break from the humid southerly Gulf winds.
