Thursday's Weather: Dry and hot. Mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 90s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Dry and hot will be the key words for the next week across East Texas. Staying dry helps to ramp up those temperatures, and we'll continue to be feeling the summer heat.

A front has stalled just to our north for the past several days, but will not actually pass through East Texas. We will see a very slight 10% chance of showers this morning with a 20% chance by the afternoon, but the weather should stay dry across most parts of East Texas today with partly to mostly sunny skies.

Temperatures will be in the mid 90s across the area with a southwest wind between 5-10 mph. The record high temperature today for Tyler is 106, 107 for Longview, and 108 for Lufkin set back in 1917. Thankfully, we won't be hitting any triple digits!

As we look towards the weekend, a ridge of high pressure will settle back across the area, setting us up for a very nice weekend, but high temperatures will stay in the mid 90s. This trend will continue until the middle of next week, where a 20% chance of rain is possible on Wednesday.?
