PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - The Palestine Recall 2014 group is calling on mayor Therrell Thomas and district six councilman Steve Presley to step down, after their apparent 'lack of action' to settle the controversy surrounding police chief Robert Herbert.

Herbert was fired last month, after a management study revealed that not a single officer thought the chief was fit to be a leader.

The recall group says the city leaders allowed the situation to get out of hand, which led to tension between officers, and a domino effect in other city departments.

The group says if Mayor Thomas and Councilman Presley do not resign before July 14th, they will file a recall petition for their removal from office.
