LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas mother got quite the surprise while working in her yard on July 4.

Judy Walker, a Longview resident, was mowing her yard when her son, Cody, a soldier in the Army, walked into the yard. Cody had been stationed in Korea for the past year. Judy knew he was supposed to be home at some point in July, but her husband told her Cody was being delayed and wasn't sure when he would make it home.

"I was mowing and happened to notice a couple people on the patio so it took me a few seconds to realize it was him," said Judy. "He walked over and hugged me and I was crying like baby."

Judy and her husband also got to meet Cody's fiance for the first time. Cody and his bride-to-be met while stationed in Fort Sill, OK.

"I posted this [photo] so people could enjoy some happy news." Judy told KLTV. "I know I love watching the surprise videos."

Cody will be home until July 18.

Suffice to say, Judy didn't finish cutting the grass that day.
