The Gregg County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a report of a girl being approached and followed by a man.

Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, a 14-year-old girl was riding her 4-wheeler to a sandpit on Samples Road in Kilgore. Her mother says a man approached asking a few questions and offered her something to smoke. She refused and drove her 4-wheeler home, about a mile from this location. Her mother describes the details.

“She got nervous and scared and just left. She called me and told me what’s going on. She came home, locked the doors, turn the security system on. She thought she was safe," her mother said.

Mother Vicki Fleming says her daughter went to go take a shower.

“One of the guys that we have working for us came out of the shop to look in the back of his truck for something. There was a car parked in our driveway and a gentleman standing here looking through the window, while she was in there taking a shower. So, ten minutes later, he apparently had followed her to our house,” Fleming said.

A friend of the family saw him and yelled at him. He says he was wearing white gloves, had his champagne colored vehicle backed up in the driveway with the backseat door open and the trunk open.

Once the man saw the family's friend, he tore off in his car.

Police described the person they are looking for as a black male, around 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds.

They believe he is driving a champagne colored 90’s model sedan. If you know anything, you are asked to call Investigator David Falco at 903-236-8438, or give an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 903-236-STOP.
