Longview police offer child identification program

Posted: Updated:
LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A free program is being offered for children Tuesday, July 8 from 6-8 pm.

Officer Debra Stiles will be at the Longview Public Library located at 222 West Cotton Street tonight for a program offered through a partnership between Partners in Prevention and the Longview Police Department.

Each child over four years old will be fingerprinted, photographed, and have a short voice recording done. The information will then be put on a CD and provided to the parents, which can be updated as the child gets older. The CD should be stored in a safe place.

Police do not keep this information once it is provided to the parents. The stored information could be helpful if that child were ever to be abducted or missing.
