Palestine man jailed on drug, weapon charges

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) -

A Palestine man was arrested on Friday on drug and weapon charges after a traffic stop.

Police say 22-year-old Christopher Olivarez was the passenger in a car that was stopped by a Palestine police officer around 11:53 p.m. for driving without a license plate. The officer noticed a gun in the vehicle and asked for permission to search the car.

Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Olivarez was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana. He was booked in and is being held in the Anderson County Jail on a $370,000 bond.
