Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and team waiting to finalize contract

DALLAS, TX (KLTV) -

NBA free agency is officially underway, and the Mavericks first order of business is to re-sign star forward Dirk Nowitzki.

Dirk and the Mavericks though will hold off on finalizing a new deal until after Dallas meets with Carmelo Anthony on Wednesday afternoon.

Nowitzki has said he's prepared to take a significant pay-cut in order to give the Mavericks ample salary-cap space to sign a player like Anthony in free agency.
