EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine. High temps will warm into the low to mid 90s area wide. Heat index values will be approaching the 100 degree mark. Make sure you stay hydrated, if you will be out and about this afternoon. Tonight, look for mainly clear skies. The winds will remain quite breezy out of the south 10-15 mph. Overnight lows will only fall into the low to mid 70s. Changes begin to develop by mid week. A cold front will be approaching the area from the north. As it arrives in East Texas, it will actually stall, allowing for several afternoons of showers and thunderstorms to develop across the region. This does not look to be a washout, or something that would cancel any 4th of July plans, but do be aware, chances for afternoon showers and storms will increase as we move toward your Holiday. The upcoming weekend currently looks like a typical East Texas summer forecast, with partly cloudy skies and isolated pop-up showers. Highs will be in the lower 90s.
