AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn right-handed pitcher/infielder Keegan Thompson was named a first-team Freshman All-American by Baseball America today, his second such honor after completing a stellar rookie season for the Tigers.

Thompson, who was previously named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, started 12 games for the Tigers on the mound in 2014. He was one of Auburn's most consistent starters, putting together a 5-3 record with a 2.01 earned run average in 89.2 innings pitched. The right-hander led the team with 73 strikeouts while walking just 23 opposing hitters, and he held opponents to a .192 batting average.

Thompson's ERA and opposing batting average were both the fourth-best marks among all Southeastern Conference pitchers.

He was one of three SEC players named to Baseball America's first team, joining Vanderbilt outfielder Bryan Reynolds and Florida pitcher Logan Shore. Thompson is Auburn's 15th all-time Freshman All-American and the first to earn accolades from multiple outlets since Brian Fletcher and Hunter Morris in 2008.
