Sheriff: East Texans targeted for electricity scam

The Wood County Sheriff's Office says residents are being targeted by scammers.

According to Wood County Electric, several businesses said they received a phone call advising their electricity was going to be disconnected unless they paid a past due amount by credit card or Western Union.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office would like to make the citizens and businesses in Wood County aware that this is a scam. If you receive a call like this, contact Wood County Electric before any money is paid.
